One of the most significant and
most essential adventures in our lives is finding and discovering who we are.
To truly know yourself is a gift and a special skill that anyone can ever
possess. When you know your true self, you don’t have to seek other’s approval,
since you already know what you ought to do. It may sound like a self-centered
goal to find yourself, but it is an unselfish process. Once you know who you
are, you’ll become more confident, and you will understand your real purpose in
life, and you will now start making a significant impact in the world. Another
way of discovering yourself is by taking any type
of examination that will measure yourself and identify what kind of
personality you have.
After our class discussion, our
facilitator assigned us to take an Emotional Quotient Test (EQ Test) and
Adversity Quotient Test (AQ Test) to assess and discover some unknown traits
that we have in ourselves.
Emotional Quotient
Test (EQ Test)
What is an Emotional Quotient
Test (EQ Test)?
An Emotional quotient test (EQ
test), is a type of self-assessment examination that measures the capability of
an individuals to recognize their own emotions and
those of others, discern between different feelings and label them
appropriately, use emotional information to guide thinking and behavior, and
manage or adjust emotions to adapt to environments or achieve one's goals.
I took the Emotional Quotient Test
(EQ Test) first since there’s a lot of available EQ Test to choose from the
internet. I took the Emotional Quotient Test (EQ Test) on this website https://memorado.com/emotional_quotient.
The test consists of fifteen (15) questions. There
are two different images that are flashed in the screen for each item
from items 1 – 6; then you have to choose between the two images which soothe
your answer for a particular question. While the remaining nine (9) questions
involve sets of questions which has four options to choose from, these options
are: “This is not
me at all,” “This is a bit like me,” “This is a lot like me,” “This is always
like me.” The test took 2 – 3 minutes since it only has fifteen (15)
questions. Then after I finished the test, the result pops at the screen. I
took a screenshot of my result to prove that I really took the test and here
are the images of my test result.
What does the result mean?
As you can see at the screenshot, I got a total
score of 133 which means my EQ result is in the top 10%. Then my Emotional Type
is AEDW.
If you get an AEDW result, it means you can
easily deal with your emotions and personality. Sometimes you don’t always give
yourself enough credit, and sometimes you underestimate yourself, but you can
quickly find your confidence back. You trust your judgments, and you do not let
others influence you.
People with AEDW
emotional type have outstanding skills. They are usually excellent listeners
and take an active interest in other concerns. They can quickly spot a change
of behavior and have a great intuition about people's mood and intention.
Because they get anyone's feeling so good, they recognize people's need
exceptionally well and are the best at fulfilling their obligations
(particularly when it comes to meet customer's requirement). They are generally
flexible and low-key. They can adapt to a different type of social
organization, understanding the hierarchy and the relationships between the
members of any social group very quickly. Their skills allow them to fit
corporate organization very easily; they may enjoy it or not. They struggle to
deal with the rushes of emotion, but most of the time they keep their control
over their impulses. They smartly perceive
events and adapt themselves quite quickly to new situations. They can
take the initiative but will rarely try to reach higher goals than the ones
initially set up. They can both work in a
team and individually. They build bond quickly with people though they do not
always find it easy to deal with conflicts and everyone's will.
Adversity
Quotient Test (AQ Test)
What is an Adversity Quotient Test (AQ Test)?
An adversity quotient test (AQ test) is a
self-assessment examination that measures the ability of a person to deal with adversities in life. This test is commonly known
as the science
of resilience. This test will determine how you respond to life, especially the
tough stuff. The more resilient you are, the more successful you react to
life’s challenges, and the more fulfilling life becomes.
When I
got my Emotional Quotient Test (EQ test) result, I immediately search for an
Adversity Quotient Test on the internet, but unlike the Emotional Quotient Test
(EQ Test) there are only a few available Adversity Quotient tests (AQ test),
and luckily I found one AQ test in this website http://www.winstonbrill.com/bril001/html/article_index/articles/501-550/article517_body.html
The Adversity Quotient Test that I took contains
twenty questions. You have to rate each item from 1 to 5. Once you are done
answering the test, you can now tally your test result by inserting each choice
you chose on the corresponding item’s number. The test has a four-division
which are C= Control, O= Ownership, R= Reach and E= Endurance. Each division
has its total score. After getting the sum of each division you will now add
all the division’s result, and then multiply the total sum by 2 to get the ARP.
My Adversity Quotient
Test (AQ test) result
What
does the result mean?
I only got 120 points in my Adversity Quotient test. My result indicates that
I’m below average since the average ARP score is 147.5. It just shows that I
need to improve myself more to make myself more resilient and stronger in facing
hardships in life.
One thing that I’ve learned while taking these tests is that never compare the
results you have with the result of others because we are not the same and each
of us has our own unique identity. Yes, I do have a lower result on the AQ
test, but the result that I got will serve as a guide in making myself better.
